In her plenary intervention, Sister Smerilli emphasized that climate change is not just an environmental issue, but a profound social, economic, and ethical challenge. Inextricably linked to the plight of migrants and refugees, \u201cclimate change acts as a threat multiplier, exacerbating pre-existing vulnerabilities and inequalities in communities already facing poverty, conflict, and lack of resources.\u201d   <\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Her voice, inspired by the encyclical<em> Laudato si<\/em>\u2019, echoed the call to highlight the interconnectedness between the climate crisis and the social crisis.
