On the 60th anniversary of the promulgation of the Declaration Nostra Aetate, WUCWO joins the whole Church in giving thanks for a document that marked a turning point in interreligious dialogue and continues to inspire the Church’s teaching and commitment to human fraternity and peace.
With prophetic words, the Fathers of the Second Vatican Council stated: “The Church reproves, as foreign to the mind of Christ, any discrimination against men or harassment of them because of their race, color, condition of life, or religion” (NA 5). This message, more relevant than ever, reminds us of the urgent need to promote mutual respect, understanding, and collaboration among peoples and religions.
As an international organisation of Catholic women, WUCWO—consistent with one of its most recent resolutions on the defence of religious freedom—renews its commitment to foster dialogue, denounce all forms of intolerance, and work for a world in which every person can live their faith freely and in peace.
