Our identity

The World Union of Catholic Women’s Organisations (WUCWO) is a global network of Catholic organisations whose mission is the evangelisation and integral development of women.

For more than 110 years, we have been working to promote the active and co-responsible participation of Catholic women in the Church and in society, so that they may fulfil their evangelising mission and contribute to human development.

Our Mission

We promote the integral development and formation of women, and their participation in all areas of ecclesial and social life, encouraging them to fully live out their Christian vocation and commitment to the world.

Our Vision

We aspire for Catholic women to be active protagonists in the Church and in society, collaborating in the construction of a more just and humane world, through the witness of their faith and their concrete commitment.

Since its inception, WUCWO has been committed to respecting the dignity and fundamental rights of the person—especially of women—to the promotion and defence of life and the family, to ecumenical and interreligious dialogue, and to respect for cultural diversity.

In 2007, WUCWO was recognised by the Holy See as a Public International Association of the Faithful, and therefore its presence and voice reflect communion with the Church and its Magisterium.

With status and representation before the UN (ECOSOC, Human Rights Council FAO and UNESCO) and the Council of Europe it represents and defines, in the international context, the values it promotes.

In 2021, it created the World Women’s Observatory (WWO) to give visibility to the most vulnerable women and contribute to foster their integral development.

your Son, Jesus Christ, came into the world to do your Will And leave us His Peace.
Through the intercession and example of our Blessed Mother Mary, Queen of Peace, grant us the
wisdom and humility to reflect that peace to the world. Inspire our thoughts, words and deeds
to bear witness to your presence in our hearts. May your Holy Spirit. Fill us with every grace and
blessing So that we may pursue what leads to peace for all humanity.
