This webinar was born from the desire to reflect on how to inhabit social networks with an authentically human, Christian, and missionary presence. Through three key themes — inhabiting networks, staying connected, and sharing gifts — it will address both the opportunities and the challenges of the digital environment. In light of the reflections proposed by the new encyclical of Pope Leo XIV, Magnifica humanitas, on human dignity in the digital age, it is necessary to be aware of these challenges in order to safeguard human faces and voices. This involves thinking about the person behind every profile, whether sender or receiver, and promoting communication capable of fostering encounter and communion.
Social networks today constitute a true space of relationship, that “sixth continent” spoken of by Benedict XVI.WUCWO, present on the other five continents and whose women also participate in this online space, has sought, through its School of Synodality, to share keys for learning how to inhabit this space with an attitude of listening, discernment, and shared journeying, putting in common the gifts that each person can contribute to the mission.
For this purpose, we will be joined by an expert on communication, a theologian, and an influencer, who will offer different perspectives in a dynamic and participatory dialogue. With their generous willingness to participate as speakers, they have already launched this exchange of gifts, in line with our desire to « join forces in building up the common good, so that humanity will never lose its beauty, and the world once again will come to recognise the human heart as the place where God desires to dwell. » Mh 16
