"Women's Voices: Global Perspectives”
to celebrate International Women's Day -
8 March 2023.
On the occasion of International Women's Day, the Australian Embassy to the Holy See and the World Union of Catholic Women's Organisations (WUCWO) organised an international conference on the theme: Women's Voices: Global Perspectives in the Marconi Hall of Palazzo Pio (Piazza Pia 3).
Maria Lia Zervino, WUCWO President, and Dr. Tracy McEwan, Professor at the School of Humanitarian Studies, Creative Industries and Social Sciences of the University of Newcastle (Australia) gave both presentations.
During the meeting, two research studies on women and synodality, carried out by the University of Newcastle, Australia, and the WUCWO World Observatory for Women, were presented.
Subsequently, in order to offer an inter-religious perspective on women's leadership in the context of the Synod, the research results were commented on by representatives of other religious traditions. Ambassadors to the Holy See and women in leadership positions in the Vatican participated in the dialogue.
The main objective was to celebrate International Women's Day, developing interreligious dialogue and moving forward together on the synodal path to which we have been called by the Holy Father.
