Women in the Church: The Challenge of Synodality

On 18 June, the World Union of Catholic Women's Organisations (WUCWO) and the Latin American Academy of Catholic Leaders held the international conference Women in the Church: The Challenge of Synodality, which was attended by around 2,000 participants from more than 70 countries in 4 continents.
The conference was a milestone of intercultural and intergenerational dialogue, which started with the keynote lecture by Sr Nathalie Becquart, the first woman in the history of the Church to have the right to vote in the Synod of Bishops and the first woman to be appointed Under-secretary of the Synod of Bishops. Her lecture was commented on by 3 personalities of Christian leadership in public life: Mons. Jorge Lozano, Secretary General of CELAM; Sophie Gladima, Minister of Energy of Senegal; and Cristiane Murray, Deputy Director of the Holy See Press Office.
