At the School for Synodality of WUCWO, through its Observatory, we are committed to ‘Listening to transform lives’. Since 2021, we have been working to amplify voices within the Church through Conversations in the Spirit, the training of facilitators and the promotion of active and meaningful participation. In collaboration with the Secretariat of the Synod, we continue to train missionaries of synodality, ensuring that the voice of the faithful reaches the heart of the Church.

Facilitator Training - 28th and 29th April

On 28 and 29 April, we will offer training sessions for facilitators, continuing on from last year's experience, in which we trained more than 250 people from 50 countries in three languages (English, French and Spanish). This training will provide tools to guide conversations in the spirit in different local contexts.

Conversations in the Spirit – 6, 8 and 10 May

In addition to the training, Conversations in the Spirit will take place on 6 and 8 May and will be open to all. On 10 May, there will be a special session dedicated to young people, offering a space where they can share their experiences, challenges and dreams for the future of the Church. This initiative responds to the concerns expressed by young people from different contexts and seeks to foster dialogue in communion.

What is a facilitator?

The facilitator is like the ‘guide’ of a conversation. They are not the one with all the answers, but the one who helps everyone feel comfortable to participate. Their mission is to truly listen, without interrupting or judging, and to facilitate dialogue so that everyone can speak and be heard. You can also use these skills in your daily life, for example in your family or group of friends. When there are arguments, be the one who listens first and speaks later; create spaces so that everyone at home can express themselves without fear of being criticised; look for solutions as a team, don't impose your opinion, etc.

Become a facilitator of positive change! The ability to listen, connect and guide conversations will not only help you in your personal life, but will also allow you to have a positive impact on others.

Dare to practice it and you will see the difference!

What is a Conversation in the Spirit?

Conversations in the Spirit is a synodal method based on attentive listening, discernment and deep sharing. These conversations allow participants to:

  • Express their experience freely and without interruption.
  • Listen actively to others with an open and non-judgemental attitude.
  • Discern together what the Spirit is saying to us as a community.

These conversations are not debates or simple exchanges of ideas, but a journey of communion and mutual listening, in which each person contributes their experience to build the future of the Church together.

We invite you to be part of this transformative process. Participate and help us spread the word about this initiative!
