The Instrumentum Laboris (Working Document) for the second session of the Synod on Synodality was presented on 9 July, the working document containing the contents and questions for the more than 450 participants in the second session of the Synod on Synodality, to be held from 2 to 27 July, was presented in the Vatican press room and by live broadcast.
This meeting marks the end of an important stage in the long journey that Pope Francis has called for to reflect on the process "For a Synodal Church. Communion, Participation and Mission.”
This process has involved the faithful, men and women, in 3 important stages at all levels. Each stage has generated a synthesis document which has been returned to the People of God for further reflection and resonance, leading to this final document which will form the basis of conversations during the four-week October meeting.
Our organisation is very much involved in the synodal process, through its World Women's Observatory and its School for Synodality, preparing facilitators around the world and organising online sessions of conversations in the Spirit with nearly 700 people from 78 countries.
Monica Santamarina, the President of WUCWO, stated:
"WUCWO receives, with joy and hope, the Instrumentum Laboris, as a further step in the fuller recognition of the charisms, vocation and role of women in a synodal Church in mission, given by the Lord to be practiced, complementarily and co-responsibly, with all the People of God within Parishes, Dioceses and other ecclesial realities, including positions of responsibility and ministries that may be undertaken by any baptised man or woman, in response to the pastoral needs of our time."
The over eight million people we represent will be invited to accompany this journey of preparation, as well as on the October session, with prayer and conversations to continue nurturing a synodal church in all parts of the world.
