This month we celebrate WUCWO Day which is an extraordinary moment to reflect and pray for our commitment.
With the joy of the gift of Amoris Laetitia let’s continue to meditate about the word MISERICORDIA following the single letters suggested by Pope Francis.
This month the words are reasonableness and gentleness. In his explanation Pope Francis states “reasonableness helps avoid emotional excesses, while gentleness helps avoid an excess of bureaucracy, programmes and planning. These qualities are necessary for a balanced personality... Every excess is a symptom of some imbalance, be it an excess of reasoning or of delicateness.”
This is what as WUCWO women we need to aim for. Avoiding extreme forms is necessary. Reasonableness needs to be used so as not to impose our point of view but to be open to a different point of view in dialogue. As the Holy Father declares “dialogue doesn’t mean relativism, but logos which is shared, which is offered to build up a more liberating reality…. In this virtuous circle dialogue reveals the truth and the truth nourishes the dialogue”. (cfr. J.M Bergoglio: La bellezza educherà il mondo ed. EMI 2014).
St Peter, in his first letter, encourages the Christians to give reason for the hope they have, this means the truth we ground our existence in has to open to dialogue, and to the difficulties others show us without imposing ourselves. When Jesus met the rich young man he asked him to follow, he didn’t impose.
On the other side gentleness, it needs to be supported without forgetting rationality to avoid forms of spiritualism which too often lead to groups or new movements which are linked to single persons and are not ecclesial. For this reason a permanent formation is necessary and WUCWO’s goal is primarily education of its members together with works of mercy necessary to give a concrete witness of God' s mercy.
This year the celebration of WUCWO day will be the starting point for the funding for a well in a developing country. Access to water was one of the resolutions voted for during our General Assembly in Fatima and this Jubilee Year of Mercy can represent for WUCWO an extraordinary moment to put in action its "natural" attitude to mercifulness and "give reason for the hope" we have.
Mary Queen of Equilibrium may help us to always be witnesses of God's mercy.

Prayer Mary, Undoer of Knots
Dearest Holy Mother, Most Holy Mary, You undo the knots that suffocate your children, extend Your merciful hands to me. I entrust to You today this knot and all the negative consequences that it provokes in my life. I give You this knot that torments me and makes me unhappy and so impedes me from uniting myself to You and Your Son Jesus, my Savior.
I run to You, Mary, Undoer of Knots because I trust You and I know that You never despise a sinning child who comes to ask you for help. I believe that You can undo this knot because Jesus grants You everything. I believe that You want to undo this knot because you are my Mother. I believe that You will do this because you love me with eternal love.
Thank you, Dear Mother.
Mary, Undoer of Knots, pray for me. Amen.
